Happy Harvest?

I had this great idea about how the kiddos would so enjoy planting a garden this summer and watching it grow and produce for us. So I went ahead and made a raised bed and planted a small garden with tomatoes, peppers and strawberries. Apparently our garden was not especially exciting, even as it grew and I reported its progress through the summer. In fact, this is the first interest I have seen in it. M & M were excited to go pick some ripe tomatoes and even a ("a", as in the number one - the one the bunnies missed) strawberry. Of course none of the kids will eat the tomatoes, but that just means more for me, right?

I tried to make a salsa garden last year. No luck. I gave up this year, but was sad when all my neighbors had great tomatoes. Maybe next year. We don't have bunnies but crazy birds that like our strawberries. Way to go, though. Next year will be better and you'll have to bring us out some tomatoes yourself!!!

Ok, I have Joanie envy again. One of these years we will do more than buy a tomato plant at Costco and let it die slowly on the back porch. xo

I so want to grow tomatoes - especially since the kids won't eat them - how did you divvy up the strawberry?
